EndNote X4 for Mac and Word for Mac 2008

I’ve seen everywhere that EndNote X4 is compatible with Word for Mac 2008; however, at UGA we’ve had at least two instances of Mac users who cannnot use EndNote X4 with their Word 2008. What appears to happen is that the EndNote toolbar in Word looks for EndNote X3. We get an error message that X3 cannot be found.

I’m going to have to advise Mac users to stay at X3 if we don’t find a fix. Anyone else encounter this?

I had the same initial problem. This occurs if you do not properly uninstall Endnote X3 before your upgrade to X4.

I have the same problem. I have installed Endnote X4 on my new iMac (no previous version of Endnote on it) and I cannot use it with MS 2008 Word. What can I do?
