I have installed Endnote X4 on a MacBook 1.1 running MACOS X 6.7 containing MS Word 2004 and 2008, The X4 toolbar appears in the 2004 but not in the 2008 version. Have reinstalled etc. but no change. When clicking on ‘Word 2008 bundle’ in the CWYW folder it opens 2004. Any suggestions?
Greetings,
If you’re not seeing EndNote’s Cite While You Write commands in Word 2008, I’d start by clicking on your “Word” drop down menu and selecting “About Word” to see if you’re running version 12.0.0. If you are running this version, there’s an update that you will want to download on the Microsoft website- http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx. This particular update is called “Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 1 (12.1.0)”.
If you’re still not able to see the EndNote commands in Word after installing this update, I would check to see which folder Word was looking at for startup items. To verify this, in Word, click the “Word” drop down menu and choose “Preferences”. On the Preferences window, click on the “File Locations” tab to check the designated Word startup folder. The default folder for startup items “Hard Drive>Applications>Microsoft Office 2008>Office>Startup>Word”. Please let me know what you find.
Best Regards,
Jimmy M.
