I can open my Word files fine, and when I click on my EndNote files they also appear fine upon opening. However, they are no longer linked.
The problem started when I was attempting to remove a citation, which led to about 25 pop-up “error” windows appearing. As the document was frozen, I used cont-alt-del to close the Word file. Upon reopening, it is no longer linked to my EndNote file (and there is no longer an EndNote tab at the top of my Word toolbar).
When I do try to open EndNote from within Word, a window pops-up stating “The file … cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.” When I click on “Details”, it informs me that “Microsoft Office cannot open this file becasue some parts are missing or invalid.” The next screen states “Word found unreadable content… Do you want to recover the contents of this document?” However, when I select “yes” it merely loops me back to a new screen that again states “The file cannot beopened becasure there are problems with the contents.”
I am sorry I have s similar problem about linking Endnote X7 with MS Word 2013. Both software are acquired through my university’s license. For some reasons, I had to reinstall office, and since then I cannot see the Endnote tool bar in MS Word anymore. I did pretty much everything which was recommended:
Repair Endnote in the Program’s removal feature;
Use the Configure EndNote.exe (shows the configuration was cancelled);
Remove and reinstall Endnote;
Repair MS Office;
Check if the add-in is “disabled” in Word’s options (not showing in the add-ins);
Verify that “Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality)” is unchecked in the Thrust center;
