Failure to import references to an already large Library on a Macbook

Hello,

I have a colleague who has been working on different versions of an EndNote library for his PhD. His current version with a large number of references no longer allows him to import references from electronic sources. He can still manually enter and (strangely) import downloaded references via the EndNote program icon on his desktop. We originally thought it was because he had been synching to iCloud (which can cause problems) or saving the file as an .enlp file. But we have broken the connection with iCloud, and re-saved a version that is not an .enlp file, but still it won’t allow him to import any more references. I didn’t think there was a reference limit for EndNote Desktop?

Could it be that the previous use of iCloud, or the multiple versions of the library have corrupted the current file in some way to prevent it from importing further references?

You could try recovering the library to see if that changes the behavior:

 http://endnote.com/kb/82291

You might also see if the issue is library specifc by starting a new library or opening the Sample Library located in Applications\EndNote\Examples to see if you get the same behavior when importing.

You might also try importing via a different browser so FireFox or Chrome if you are using Chrome or FireFox.

You could also try clearing the cache of either browser.
