Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had a solution for this issue: although specifying no italics for ‘et al’, the final generated bibliography displays the words in italics. Also, sometimes when I specify that only the first 3 authors should be listed, the bibliography shows 6 authors + et al.

If you had edited a style then you will want to make sure you are using the edited version in Word.
Please see the following KB article on changing styles in a document.
You can try inserting a few references in a blank document to test the style.
