I’m using X2 JAMA and finding that when entering authors names e.g. C. Harris, M.A. DeBeliso, the output for the second authoer is always combined and abbreviated into the first name: it ends up being: C. Harris MAD. it is doing this for every single reference! How can I stop this?
how do you type in the Authornames? Like you did in your excample “Forename. Surname” and seperate the names with “,”?
Than this would be your error.
EndNote wants the Name in the style of “Surname, Forename”
The “,” seperates between Surname and Forename so that would explain why EndNote puts the 2 names together.
Put the second name in a 2nd line (by return) so they are seperated visualy too ( “;” instead of return could work between the names too, but im not sure 100% there).
Your Excample would than look like this in EndNote:
I suspect these are manual entries, in which you are entering all the authors on one line or an incorractly formated filter which isn’t parsing the authors into your record correctly.
You need to enter one per line, and you are best doing it (making sure there is a space between the initials. BTW You don’t actually NEED the full stop following the initials).
Surname, F.<space>N.
2ndauthor, F. B.
etc
Also, If you enter them “Firstname Surname” as the order, endnote won’t treat a two (or more) worded surname correctly, just assuming the last “word” is always the Surname.
