how to insert "author only" in text reference...

I’ve searched for the answer to this question and can’t find information.

I’m using APA style citation. In-text citations in the form (Author, year) are “standard” and placed at the end of references. EndNote does this well. Also, leading citations are common, and EndNote does this well also, example:

“Lane and Huffman (2016) noted…”

However, in APA, after the first leading citation, it is only necessary to reference the author, without year, for subsequent references within the same paragraph. I can not figure out how to get EndNote to insert a name only reference. Do you know if it’s possible? Example:

“Lane and Huffman also found…”

Thanks for any assistance.

Chris

I don’t believe this is an option in Endnote.  You may instead type exactly what you want to appear and select exclude Author and Year for the citation, or (my preference) select the citation itself and make it hidden text (this way you can still see it in the document).
