How to stop references and changes disappearing

Two issues -

  1. I keep putting in references in the Bibliography only option.  Later on, I find they have disappeared.  No idea why.  Do it again.  They appear.  Some time later they disappear.

  2. If I switch Instant formatting off in order to change something there seems to be no other way of changing, it then takes all that out again if I switch instant formatting back on.

I am nervous about changing styles and also updating style outputs (which I have had to do a LOT) as sometimes it seems to change things I don’t want changed (things I have changed using instant formatting, not when it is off).

Can anyone help?

If you are using a footnote style with no Citation template in the output style, then they will “disappear” because there is nothing defined that should be displayed.  What output style are you trying?

Sorry for the slow response - it wasn’t a footnote style…

If you are manually  typing-in  the references they will not be permanent  and disappear when Endnote  updates the citations and bibliography.  In order to  generate permanent citations/references  in a document, they must be associated with Endnote records  in the library  and corresponding bibliography templates  in the output style.

Hi

I got the same problem and the solution is

  1. Sellect an citition style in Word, for example APA 6th

  2. In Endnote page, select the same citation as in Word before you citeinto word

  3. problem solved

Hope it helps
