Hello everyone,
I’m currently using the ‘Oxford HUMSOC’ citation style dated March 3, 2025, and I’ve encountered an issue with the bibliography template. The style file only includes a generic template that states: “This is an endnote style, not intended for a standard bibliography.”
Does anyone know where I can find a version of the file that includes the correct bibliography template?
Thanks in advance!
Daniel
The endnote style they created seems to be a “footnote” (really an “endnote” style where they are at the end of the document and not at the foot of each page, I guess), not one that produces a bibliography, hence the note that is in the bibliography templates. To use it, you need to introduce the endnote with your word processor and insert the citation in the “endnote”. (it says this in the About this Style: This style is an endnote style.
Please make certain to insert an endnote in the text, and subsequently insert the citation into the endnote section in the document for the corresponding endnote number.) It isn’t saying it is an EndNoteTM style.
However, it seems to me that when I try to look for Oxford’s HUMSOC style, it isn’t a footnote requiring style, but a numbered in-text citation style, in order of use? I think that output style is not correct.
It maybe that one of the other oxford styles is more appropriate for where you intend to publish. what journal are you intending to submit to?
It seems like HUMSOC is described slightly differently for different publications. Oxford SciMed might be closest. Try that, then adjust for any differences?
Thank you for your help, Leanne. I ended up creating a new style and manually built the template based on the journal’s instructions. I’ve submitted it and am now waiting for a response from the editoral office.
Best regards,
Daniel
