References section - Don't want the refs to be automatically arranged in alphabetical order

Hi everyone

I am doing an important piece of work and am stuck with regards to the ordering in the reference section.

This is the stage I’m at right now:

Main body of text

… blah blah (1, 3, 4) blah blah blah blah (2) blah blah…

References section:

Basically, I do not want the references to automatically be  arranged alphabetically

Instead, I want them to be arranged numerically (because I have to follow a particular style)

How can I do this?

P.S., I am using EndNote version X5

Thanks!

You need to change the output style to one that numbers the references in the order of use rather than alphabetically.  the “numbered” output style that comes in the installed set is in order of appearance.  Make sure you make the output style change on Word’s endnote toolbar or in the format bibliography menu, and not in Endnote itself (which won’t affect an existing document).
