renumbering a library

Question from client who has used procite but is new to Endnote. Can a user re-number the Endnote library (i.e. the record numbers) as is possible in ProCite (i.e. renumber database)

But what is the solution on this link

Well, I guess it isn’t exactly the same point.  – they wanted to keep the old record numbers I guess.  –

What you can do is copy the refs to a new library, and it will renumber from “1” in what ever order they were sorted in.  The record number in endnote is an internal unique value which is not changable.  What do you want to use it for, and why do you want to change it?

Many thanks  Leanne, I have forwarded to the client. I am not sure that she wants to keep the old record numbers, but have suggetsed she contact forum directly for further clarification.
