Hi all,
I am hoping that someone maybe able to help. I have started using Scrivener to write my PhD thesis. I have no issue when I am using single references from Endnote - but when I have a list of say 5 references in a row, I do not want all the perentheses on each individual reference. Is there a way to sort this out, without having to manually edit it once Endnote has formated the paper?
Let me give you an example of what I mean.
In Scrivener I have the below (please ignore and dyslexic mistakes - they will be corrected in due course):
“Turning to case law, there is widespread agreement that the confession evidence of mentally vulnerable suspects gained within a police interview is at risk of being unreliable. This is due to a question as to the voluntariness and reliability of the confession evidence obtained. Their is evidence that police officers have not fulfilled their responsibilities to offer suspects legal advice from a suitably qualified person (The Guilford Four , 1989 #343) (The Tottenham Three \ , 1991 #341) (Stephen Downing \ , 2002 #337); have used both physical and psychological coercion (The Guilford Four , 1989 #343), (The Birmingham Six \ , 1991 #339) (Judith Ward \ , 1993 #342) (The Cardiff Three \ , 1993 #340) (Stephen Downing \ , 2002 #337); and have failed to identify, or have ignored, signs which may give rise to a belief that a suspect held a mental illness (The Guilford Four \ , 1989 #343), (The Birmingham Six \ , 1991 #339) (Judith Ward \ , 1993 #342) (The Cardiff Three \ , 1993 #340) (Stephen Downing \ , 2002 #337). However, the largest concern to the criminal justice system is that of suggestibility, which may lead a suspect to making a false confession (The Guilford Four \ , 1989 #343), (The Birmingham Six \ , 1991 #339) (Judith Ward \ , 1993 #342) (The Cardiff Three \ , 1993 #340) (Stephen Downing \ , 2002 #337).”
Once I have compiled the document into an RTF file, then formated it with EndNote and open it in MS Word I see the following:
“Turning to case law, there is widespread agreement that the confession evidence of mentally vulnerable suspects gained within a police interview is at risk of being unreliable. This is due to a question as to the voluntariness and reliability of the confession evidence obtained. Their is evidence that police officers have not fulfilled their responsibilities to offer suspects legal advice from a suitably qualified person (The Guilford Four 1989) (The Tottenham Three 1991) (Stephen Downing 2002); have used both physical and psychological coercion (The Guilford Four 1989), (The Birmingham Six 1991) (Judith Ward 1993) (The Cardiff Three 1993) (Stephen Downing 2002); and have failed to identify, or have ignored, signs which may give rise to a belief that a suspect held a mental illness (The Guilford Four 1989), (The Birmingham Six 1991) (Judith Ward 1993) (The Cardiff Three 1993) (Stephen Downing 2002). However, what I want if for those sets in a row, to be surrounded only by one perenthesis at the begining and end of the multipul references. The below shows one I have manually edited:
"

I did post this question on the Scriverner forums and so far no luck. I am hoping someone here may be able to help me.
