Smart Group search options

I am using EndNote X5 for a research project. EndNote helps me count citations which contain certain content through the use of Groups and Smart Groups. Therefore, how EndNote searches and creates Smart Groups is very important.

  1. How does EndNote deal with punctuation when searching? Like hyphens within a word? Or an apostrophe?

  2. Occasionally, I modified a Smart Group search to Match Words and it returned zero records, even though I could see that two records contained this exact phrase. When I uncheck Match Words, I see both records. Does anyone know why this might happen?
