two weird but challenging questions

I ginned up my own output style to use in generating names for PDF of articles. Two things would really help

  1. Is there a way to truncate the length of the title in a bibliography?

  2. is there a way to have endnote strip the colons out of titles automatically and maybe substitute a dash?  I’d settle for just removing them.

I realize these are odd requests, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

+14 years later (!), I’m trying to do the same thing here! Is there a way to substitute space-underscore-space for colon (“:”) or forward slash (“/”) characters in reference titles in Output Styles?

Not to my knowledge as an automatic step in the output. – can you copy the field to a custom field and do global edits on that field to replace the characters? Create a word macro?
