Hi. I have been using Endnote for about 2 years without any problem. Now I need to submit my thesis in a few days and I have a major problem: I am updating the citations in EndNote according to the British Journal of Nutrition and I was hoping all of them would update as well but they did not. I tried deleting each one of the existing citations that was giving trouble and then re-insert them again but it is not working and I have a deadline pretty soon! HELP!!!

Can you clarify what you mean when you say “am updating the citations in Endnote”? How are you updating the citations? Are you using Endnote’s “British Journal of Nutrition” output style file, and did you change the setting EndNote tab of the MS Word ribbon to use this output style file? If you have done so but the citations did not automatically update, convert the citations to temporary citations then click the Update Citations and Bibliography option. A copy of the output style file is attached for your use*.

Also, have you updated your Endnote software to the latest version and what version of MS Word are you using?

*Instructions to install the Endnote output style file:

  1. Download the file to your desktop.
  2. Double-click the file which will open in EndNote.
  3. In the Endnote toolbar go to File Menu >Save As. Delete the word “Copy” from the file name then click “Save”.
  4. Click on File Menu and select “Close Style”.
