[Word ]Writing italic in EndNote prefix

Dear all,

I currently want to add “n = 9 […]” in the prefix of an EndNote citation in Word. Since I cannot write the “n” in italic afterwards, as the automatic processing would delete the italic, I would like to ask how I can write in italics in the prefix of an EndNote citation in Word. I currently did not find any useful solution, so I hope someone could help me here.

This might be worth a feature request if there were a way. Zotero and Citavi manage it by allowing a small set of html-like tags like or .
