Add special attributes to specific words in references

In my EndNote library, words in several references downloaded from Pubmed lacks special attributes such as Italics. Is there a way I can Find and Replace or something similar to look up specific words in the references, and change style to Italics?

Thanks

Unfortunately, Endnote’s Find and Replace feature doesn’t appear to accommodate changing text formatting such as italics. (You might submit this on the Product Suggestion section of the forum.)

You’ll need to change the formatting on a record-by-record is basis but a possible workaround might be to use MS Word’s “Auto Correct” feature* to designate words to be italicized. (Note: Since the formatting will apply to whatever document you’re working on it might be problematic to have the designated words always appear italicized as Auto Correct is global and not selective in application.)

*1. Go to the MS ribbon and select File > Options (located beneath Help).

  1. In the Word Options dialog box, select Proofing. Then click the AutoCorrect Options button.
  2. In the AutoCorrect dialog box, enter the non-italicized and italicized word in the Replace and With boxes, respectively. Click the Add button then OK to exit.
