Adding extra fields to a template

Hi

I would like to know how I can add extra fields to different reference-type templates (e.g. adding extra fields in the ‘Journal article’ template). I can only find custom fields in the ‘Generic’ template.

I know how to edit output styles, but I don’t know how to edit the normal templates which are used when inputting new references. Can anyone help me with this?
