From almost all journals, the citation is imported into my data base by simply clicking on the ‘endnote’ link next to the abstract. However, for one specific journal, a new window opens then with an ris file

What web browser where you using?
You may want to try a different browser to see if that will change the behavior.
You will also want to make sure your version of EndNote is updated to the latest version.
If none of that helps please let me know and we can check a few other settings on your machine.
