Help with RIS imports

Hey,

New to Endnote. Pretty frustrated so far - I appreciate it will be user error.

The pic attached is all I see when importing references, and to be honest if I need to manually type references in then I may as well do it on my docs. 

Any help with why i’m getting this empty box and how to fix appreciated!

I did set up the library following this:

  1. Open  EndNote. In the dialog box that appears, select Create a new  library  OR from the menu bar, select File > New.
  2. The New Reference  Library  dialog box will appear. Enter a name for your new  library. …
  3. Choose where you would like to save your new  library.
  4. Click the Save button. The new  EndNote library  appears.

I believe you need to set up your computer so it opens the file type in endnote.  The computer is asking what to do with this file?

I think if you right-click on any RIS file in Windows Explorer, and select “Open with”  Endnote, Windows will remember and future imports straight into EN.   How well the RIS import works depends on how the individual publisher sets it up. Some are perfect, most take a little or a lot of tidying up. BTW, RIS import to EndNote almost always works more smoothly for me than ENW Endnote import to Endnote.
