Im using now endnote X7 for some days and its really helping a lot managing all my citations. I just have this problem:
I use open office with automatic bibliography and now have some 50 citations in the bibliography in the order of first appearance. Just each time I reopen the text, I can see the full bibliography at the beginning, however when i enter somewhere a new citation my whole bibliography disappears and the citation starts with numer one again. Im using New England J Medicine as Output Style. Why is my old bibliography not staying and how to fix that issue?
Thank you very much for the help!
I am not sure what you are saying. Meaning you just have one citation showing up in the document even though you have multiple cites before what you are writing?
Endnote will use the output style that is defined on the endnote ribbon in Word.
What word processor and version are you using? PC or Mac?
You can’t edit the bibliography in any way, manually. Are you trying to do so?
Talk us thru your process.
Yes! There are multiple citations i entered last time i used open office and when i open the open office file they are visible. The problem is that once I enter new citations it starts again with citation no. 1, no 2 etc., while the programme does not recognise the other 50 or so citation numbers any more! The old bibliography that I used before which was visible once I opened the programme is even gone as soon as I enter new numbers.
Im using the PC version and Open Office 4.1.1
Thank you so much for your help!
I would call tech support. First make sure no one is opening the file in Word. Transferring between Word and OpenOffice will corrupt any field codes.
the Compatibility chart only lists 3.x not 4.x so it may be a compatibility issue? Also see this article.

Thank you very much for the answers! Indeed the reason appears to have been the fact that I used open office 4. Now that I use open office 3 the problem is gone!
Wishing you all a good day!
