bibliography sort order problem

I have come up against a problem that I can’t solve on the bibliography sort order. I have 4 types of my reference resources ( Book, conference paper, journal paper, website),and i need to order by their reference types, so I use Bibliography > Sort OrderSkype(user define: Reference Type + First Author) to sort those references.

In fact, I want my reference resources order like these:

Book / conference paper + journal paper / website

And Endnote X2 couldn’t take 2 types (conference paper+journal paper ) into account at the same time. The output is always …

Book …

conference paper….

journal paper …

website…

how can I take 2 types ( conference paper+ journal paper) as one to consider? Can anybody help me out?

The easiest way would be to use a custom field to group the refs in the way you want.  First edit all the ref types (in preferences) to utilize a new custom field that isn’t already in use. 

Then select all the journal articles and assign a unique word to those records (using change, move field tool), then do the same and assign the same word to conference papers.  Then assign a different word to books and another to websites.  Then in your style, Sort on the custom field rather than on the ref type.  You can even adjust which order they come out in, by choosing the word in the custom field carefully.
