I had a crash on my Macbook Pro and after restoring via Time Machine the computer worked again. However, when I launch my EndNote program I get the following error message: “The document “Erik_Mac.enl” could not be opened.”
Any suggestion what I can do?
You need to make sure the .DATA folder is fully restored and located in the same folder as the .enl file. the .enl file is really just a pointer to the database files and pdfs in the .DATA folder and subfolders.
You can try to use the “recover damaged library” tool.
or You can find the intact .data folder and create an empty plain text document library-data-folder name.enl file in the same directory as the .DATA folder (not IN the .DATA folder) and try to open that. .
