Cannot Run Installer Error 1723


I am currently facing a problem when installing Endnote X6. 

When I tried running the installer, it fails. 

It says, 

“Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL file is required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor”

After pressing OK, then, it says,

“Installation ended prematurely because of an error”.

I’m running on Windows 7 x64.

Perhaps, is there any solutions to this?

Before installing EndNote:

1. You updated Windows with current patches and updates, and completed installation (i.e., did not pause or deny an update)?

  1. Were you logged in as the administrator?

  2. Temporarily turned off your antivirus and antispying software?

  1. No. I completed all installation.

  2. Yes I am logged in as the administrator

  3. I dont have any antivirus

Was a solution found for this troubleshoot? I am facing the same problem. My plateform is Win8 (8.1) 64 bit!

I manage to solve this issue over at my end. It seems like you have to run the installer as an administrator in order to execute it, but sometimes the Run as Administrator option is not available.

I got it running by doing the following.

  1. Start > type in cmd and then right click “Run as administrator”

  2. Use the command prompt and browse to the directory of your installer

  3. Type in your installer name (for example mine is “ENX7Inst.msi”) and Enter

The installer should run now without the error
