I’m using a variation of Chicago 16th Ed.: SBL 2nd ed.
In a footnote, my reference will normally appear as so:
- Author_, title: subtitle_ (city: publisher, year), page #.
But I need the reference to also be able change from (parentheses) around the city, publisher, and year to [brackets]when the reference is inside parentheses in a footnote. like this:
- “This is a quote from the source.” (Author_, title: subtitle_ [city: publisher, year], page #).
Currently it keeps the parentheses for city, publisher, year, etc. even when I put the whole reference inside its own parentheses.
Can I change this somehow?
