Citations pulled from traveling library do not update when library entry changed

I have a document that I have worked on on my work and home computers, both using the same library.  when I have corrected a few references in the library, they continue to show the old version after I rebuild the bibliography.  If I go in and delete each reference to that citation (the window shows that it is from the traveling library, which had the incorrect information) and then re-insert the reference, it will display the updated reference.

Is there a way to tell endnote to use the library itself, rather than the traveling library entry?

Thanks

The easiest (really the only!) way is to unformat and reformat the whole document. Sometimes I even have to unformat, close Word and Endnote (to really erase the travelling library) and then reopen it and reformat.

Hi!

My Endnote was working beautifully and I sent of a word doc for a colleague to edit. She did not touch the citations, merely added comments in microsoft word.

However, now I am persistently unable to add new references to the document she returned. They keep coming up as temp citations from a travelling library when I want them to displayas Vancouver style. I’ve tried to   unformat the entire document and updating the bioblio but the in text citations remain as temporary citations. I’ve also tried to shut down everything and do it again to no avail.

Using Endnote X& and WIndows 8

Looming deadline ahead, would greatly appreaciate any help. Thanks!!

To test whether there something wrong with the document itself (corrupted), you might try copying a segment (containing temporary citations) from the document, then copying it into a new document. Save the new document under a different name and close the old/original document. Open the corresponding Endnote library and test whether the temporary citations in the new document can be correctly updated/formatted. If they can be correctly updated then something’s wrong with the original document so copy the contents to a new document and work with the new document.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the reply!

I did try to copy a portion of the document to a new document but the travelling library citations just wouldn’t go away. A standard shut down didn’t seem to work too…

By coincidence, I happened to update to Windows 10 (ie full shut down , reboot etc) and it fixed the problem.  Just wanted to leave a note for whoever might be facing the same issue!
