Recently I reinstalled Word2008 and Endnote X2.0.1 after a crash (may have corrupted data and documents). I recoved endnotes libraries and word documents from a clean back up. However, when I install CWYW into Word, Word immediately crashes with the message: "EndNote X1 Error A COM Exception has occurred. Index refers beyond end of list.
I have tried installing and reinstalling both Endnote and Word and following Endnote documentation to remove Word files in library folders. Both Word and Endnote work without CWYW turned on. But I can’t overcome the crash problem.
I think they do, but this is a usergroup forum, and not the endnote company helpdesk. I suggest that you contact tech support for an issue that another user hasn’t address since the question was posed in January?
I had the same issue, and was unable to address it talking to the support phone line. However, one thing that seems to work so far is the following:
I removed the ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!), as indicated here: Mac office forum post. I also deleted all Endnote files/installations I could find, and completely reinstalled X2, now NOT installing any updates. I am not sure what solved the issue, but it is working for now…
(Note that this is in addition to lots of other attempted ‘solutions’, which may or may not have contributed to the final outcome)
Well, it seems to work fine with the updates installed (including the CWYW one). I am not sure what was wrong before, perhaps some corruption of the installation of endnote and/or the office 2008 config.
