Copied Database to another computer - PDF attachments disappeared

Hi,

as I now have Endnote X2 on my computer at work too, I wanted to copy the literature database I’ve been compiling for a while on my home computer onto the work one. I copied both the .enl file and the data folder. The database itself works fine and I can find all the references, but all the PDF links within the database are gone. The PDFs themselves are still inside the folder. Do I have to relink them all again, or did I just do something wrong?

Thanks in advance

The PDFs are in the .DATA/PDF folder and the .DATA folder is in the same directory as the .enl file?  The safest way to move the library with PDF (relative) is to compress it, if possible fromt he file menu in X2 (send to in some of the earlier versions).  then open the enlx file in its new location, and it will unpack it with the folder structure.

Yes, they are

I just tried that, same thing - the PDF links are all gone :(

Can you open a PDF from the folder?  What version of Acrobat (or what PDF reader) is on the new computer.  I seem to remember some problem with Endnote/Acrobat Reader 8.0 awhile back, but can’t find anything other than this:

but it would seem to me, that a problem that bad would have a lot more press?

Did you check the path links to attachment look okay or all screwed up, using “Show All Fields” style and preview?

Update - I installed the Foxit reader as suggested in the article Leanne linked, and the PDFs are now visible within each data set and can be opened from there without problems  Thank you!!!

One problem remainsthough, when I do a search, normally those citations with an attached PDF show a check in the “paperclip” column. They don’t now, for some reason. Any idea how to sort that out?

Thanks all for hanging in with me on this one!
