Direct export

Hello

I am wanting to direct export articles into my library and am encountering the following problem with Endnote X4 (Mac):

When I click the export button on the article for direct export then click 'direct export to RIS format" then click “save” the article is saved as a text file and not as “RIS format” whereas I want this to go directly to my library. I have used endnote for a while and didn’t earlier have this problem.  How do I do this?  I have marked all filters in the filter manager so don’t understand why the selected article is appearing as a text file.

any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated as am getting very frustrated, not to mention the wasted time in trying to fix this issue!

Thanks
Megan

Hello Megan,

There are a couple of possible reasons this may be happening. If you are using the default Safari browser for the Mac, Direct Export will not work. See this article for details:

If you are using an alternate browser, you need to configure it to export to EndNote. For information on configuring Firefox for Direct Export on the Mac, see the following article:

If the problem persists, please let us know which online database you are using for your search and which browser you are using.
