Endnote Citation Issue

I am facing an issue with endnote google sholar citation. when I click on click at the end of research article and select endnote option. Instead of “paper.enw” its downloaded as “paper.enw.ris” . When I click on the file its opened in text editor rather than Endnote. I don’t know how to fix it. I have tried changing browsers but still face the same issue. For reference I am using MacOS Sierra.

CrazyGecko gave the best steps for this here:

Following these, my browsers download an enw file using Endnote from the dropdown, and .RIS file from the RefMan.  I am on a PC though and use Chrome.  On a PC the computer can be set up to automatically try to open these file types (.enw and .ris) from Endnote.  Alternatively you might try first saving the file and importing it into endnote, and define the file type.

Also, this thread points to a resource that has a section on Browsers.
