I have tried Word 2010 and Word 2013. I have tried Endnote 4 (with updates to work with Word 2010) and Endnote 7 (Endnote 7 only with Word 2013).
It is always the same. I write and then go to “Find citation”, select one and it gets inserted into my text. All great.
BUUUUT once I have inserted a citation in text, the next time I want to save the file Word crashes. EVERYtime without exception.
So it clearly is Endnote. I can do whatever I want. Nothing crashes Word. I insert a citation, booom, crash when saving.
I have read many complaints about Endnote crashing but I really need this to work properly. My thesis has over 100 pages with different styles. So the weird “solutions” of removing all formatting and copying the plain text to a new file is not a solution.
Especially since I am also using Mathtype and have over 30 formulas which would all be lost in the process.
I am happy to supply whatever crash logs or logging you require if you tell me what to do, how to do it.
Endnote not working properly with Word is really not ideal given that Word is the go to word processor.
It may seem like endnote is causing the problem but it could be word which isnt happy. Try the following but you may need to reinstall the word plugin.
click the start button in windows, then click run and type windword /A
this should reset word, try endnote again and see how it goes.
