Hi
When I move my mouse currsor over my intext references only some of them link to the reference list below.
Is there a way I can fix this?
I re-entered them all and this didn’t help.
Thanks a million!!

You don’t mention what version of EndNote or MS Word you’re using so the following is based on X4 and Word 2010 and attached image.
In the MS Word ribbon locate the EndNote tab then click the tiny arrow in the “Bibliography” section. This will cause the “Format Bibliography” dialog box to appear. Click to select “Link in-text citations to references in the bibliography”. Then click OK to close the dialog box.
Thank you for your reply and picture,
I tried that and there are still a few references that have not linked into the list. Any idea why that would be?
Thanks heaps
To “reset” the hyperlinks you might try unformatting then reformatting the citations by selecting “Update Citations and Bibliography” from the EndNote tab in the MS Word toolbar.
If the hyperlnking isn’t corrected, try removing one of the problematic citations then re-inserting it to see if that fixes the issue. If so then it may indicate the citations are corrupted and will have to be removed and re-inserted individually.
A third option is to recheck the EndNote reference and perhaps make a new one (don’t overwrite the existing fields but make an entirely new record). Then generate an in-text citation to see if the hyperlinking has been resolved.
One other thing to try is to unformat all the citations and then reformat/update them again.
I have a problem and it looks completely random. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Also sometimes some references do show the reference on mouse over and sometime they do not.
The problem is that I link the references in the text to the library so when I click on them, Word jumps to the reference in the reference list. This works fine, but when you mouse over a referencenumber you should see a little pop-up showing the author. This is a great feature but it works randomly. So sometimes it shows the author and sometimes it does not. Can you please advice?
Hi there!
I have a question that is closely related to the topic. I hope that’s okay. (Word 2016 + Endnote 8)
If I use Word’s endnote function and I hover over the intext citation (the number), then I will see all of the information regarding that reference.(see picture attached)
However, if I am citing with Endnote, enabling “link in-text citations to reference in the bibliography” and hover over the intext citation, then I only see author & the year. (see pic)
Is there a way to see all of the information in this “hovering-mode” while using endnote?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers

Nope. sorry. Guess you could request the feature in the suggestions forum.
