EndNote Search...

Hello,

I am using EndNote since version 3, but there is one thing in this program i don’t understand… and it haven’t been fixed in X5.

EndNote has an internal search option, but in my opinion it isnt working very well.

When i search via EndNote I find 100 references for example. Now all those 100 ref. i found are in my “All References”… WHY?! It would be better, if I can mark the references i am interested in. It is very complicated to look over “All References”, when all the trash is in there. So why isn’t it possible to mark single references I want to take in my Library and the rest is only temporarly?

I know many people who don’t usw EndNote because of this “mistake”.

There are two Search Modes you can use with EndNote X2.0.1 and later. With the Integrated Library & Online Search Mode, all references will be added to the library unless you delete records. This is useful for people performing literature searches of all data available on a topic. For your purposes, you can use the Online Search (Temporary Library) Mode. This allows you to pick the records that get added to your library from a search. See the following Knowledge Base article for more information.

Would be useful AS AN OPTION - but as a default it just makes this option a pain and one I now avoid really.
