I created an EndNote Web library many moons ago, and now want to sync completely with my desktop version with X6, so that I can have attachments included. However, when I log into this library, it defaults back to the old web version which doesn’t allow attachments. I also created a library for some academic staff to collaborate with - done when I had X5 installed. When I log in to that one it says, “Powered by X5” and that is fine. Anyone got a solution? I have got my X6 library pointed at my own personal one in the Preferences. I am an EndNote trainer working in the university environment but I do not think that the ezproxy is the problem.
You have to upgrade your EndNote Web account to enable Sync. Once that has been enabled, you will see “Powered by EndNote X6” when you log into your account at myendnoteweb.com. For information on how to upgrade your account to enable Sync, I would highly recommend this tutorial:
I had watched this before and I am not sure that the video is really explaining the answer to my question. It does not talk about how to upgrade, I can only presume that it may do that. Also does the syncing preserve record numbers in the 2 desktop libraries? The process is definitely not for the IT shy - I would say most of my clients would have one listen and bolt!
In EndNote, from the main Library window, click the Sync button that appears in the toolbar to open an EndNote Web Login dialog. Click the Sign Up button to begin the registration and activation process. Follow the online instructions.
In EndNote, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences > Sync Preferences. Click the Enable Sync button to go to the EndNote Web Login dialog. Click the Sign Up button to begin the registration and activation process. Follow the online instructions.
The record numbers will be preserved between the two desktop computers when using the Synchronization process.
