Hi, I’m new to Endnote and I have a question about title capitalization when importing citations to Endnote x2. Is there a way to set things up so that journal article titles are imported in sentence style capitalization, or can you only change capitalization with the style you are using to generate your bibliography?
If this is not possible with x2, is it possible with a newer version?
You can change title capitalization by modifying the import filter. You don’t mention the filter you’re using but here are some general instructions:
Go to the EndNote toolbar, select EDIT, IMPORT FILTERS, EDIT [name of filter]. This will display the filter’s options.
In the left column, locate and click to select FIELD EDITING. This will display the Field Editing Options.
Use the pull-down menu to select the desired field (e.g., Title), then select the desired format (e.g., Sentence).
Close the import filter’s window. You will be prompted to save the changes so click YES. You will then be asked to save the filter which will add the word “Copy” to the file name unless you manually change it. If you elect to save the file as a “Copy”, remember to use this import file (not the original).
