EndNote X6/Word 2010 lock up after in-text citation is deleted

After the upgrade from X5 to X6, EndNote X6 and Word 2010 lock up when an in-text citation is deleted. EndNote updates the citations (often with the deleted citation re-appearing), the lock up occurs, and then I get an error message stating that the Word “auto-save function is busy”.

Ever heard of this? Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Do you have this same issue when you insert a citation into a new blank document? If not, I would suggest cleaning up the field codes in your existing document by following the steps found here:
