how to "ibid"

I need help.

I have never used ibid before, I want to learn how to use it in my dissertation so I don’t have to keep repeating names.

Oh what I mean is (boyd & ellison 2007) and if I cite them again in the text, I want to (ibid.)

You only use ibid in footnotes, never in-text citations…
