How to merge multiple references in Vancouver style, square brackets

Hi,

I have recently changed the endnote style to Vancouver, following the guidelines found on this forum. Both Endnote and Word are designated the same style. I have formatted the citation template to square brackets, and comfirmed that the separation marker are a ", ". However, when adding several references in the text, they appear like this: [1  [2], or [1 [2 [3]. any suggestions for how they could be merged to [1, 2] would be very welcomed! Thank you so much!

You may changed something in the style that is causing the unusual behavior.

Please try the attached style where I have changed Vancouver to use Square brackets for the in-text citations.

You can use the steps below to add this style to your EndNote:

Save the attachment from this post to your desktop

Double-click on the downloaded file to open it in the EndNote software.

Click the File menu in EndNote and select Save As.

Click Save.

Close the style window.

You can now delete the file on the desktop the style has been added to EndNote.

If you continue to have issues then please attach your style to a post or contact Technical Support for assistance.

Here is the style zipped.

Also make sure there are no spaces between individual inserted citations.  Often word will introduce a space automatically.  if it isn’t “grey” you can delete the space and update the citation.  If the zipped style works but you have made other changes, make sure there are no spaces after the square bracket in your citation template.  And make sure you haven’t changed it to Author (year) option which can cause problems.
