In text citation - two authors

Hi,

I would like to have my in-text citation to display [first author] and [first author], year  when there are only two authors.

I have modified the APA6th style so that I have in the author separators section of the Citations-Author list box:

1 - 2 (number of authors) and before last.

However, whenever I compile and update I always have [first author], et al, year even if there are only two authors.

Can someone help me to solve this?

Thanks!

Bene

You would need to edit the style to get the format you want.

In EndNote you can go to Edit > Output Styles > Open Style Manager > locate the style you are using > Click Edit > go to Author Lists under Citations > here you will need to change both If statements to 2 or more Authors list the first 1 > You would also need to remove the et al from the boxes as well > go To File > Save As > (EndNote will not allow you to change the existing style in EndNote but will always apply the change to a copy of the style) Click Save to save the changes to a copy of the style > close the style window.

You would then use the new style in Word.

I have attached a version of the style with this change made to it.

You can use the following steps to add the style to your EndNote:

Save the attachment from this post to your desktop

Double-click on the downloaded file to open it in the EndNote software.

Click the File menu in EndNote and select Save As.

 Click Save.

 Close the style window.

You can now delete the file on the desktop the style has been added to EndNote.
