Inconsistent author formats: no initials, initials and first names being added

Hello,

I am using APA 6 in Endnote 8 and Word 2016 on Windows 10 and have three types of citation styles coming out. There should be no author initials at all but sometimes there are, and sometimes their whole first name is written. I cannot see that there is anything different in the way the reference has been saved in the first place. Can anyone help?

Even if you can’t see a difference in the first author name in the record, minor puctuation and spacing or initials can make endnote think they are different.  You should copy the author from one of the records to replace the same author name in the other records.   This usually fixes it.
