Installation problem X5

I hope I’m putting this in the right forum. Please let me know if this is not the right place to post.

I run Endnote X5.0.1 on a Windows Vista Sp2 with Office 2007, and I have a problem with installing properly, and integrating with Word 2007.

Every time I start EndNote from the program menu, it insists on running the configuration utility, saying “please wait while windows configures endnote x5”. This then goes on for a while until the program finally starts.

This happens every time i open it from the program menu, but NOT when I start it directly from the installation folder.

I have tried reinstalling a bunch of times, making sure to do it as an administrator. Nothing works.

Also the program does not integrate properly into Word 2007, i.e. the Endnote toolbar does not appear in Word. I have tried a workaround where I put EndNote Cwyw.dot and EndNote Cwyw.dll in the AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP folder. This gives me the toolbar in Word, but it still does not work. When I press any of the menu items I get the error message “Microsoft visual basic” “File not found”

My other active Word plugins are:
Business Contact Manager for Outlook (BcmHistoryAddin.dll)
Send to Bluetooth (btsendto_office.dll)
and another one related to e-mails and outlook (FNAME.dll)

I hope you can help me with this problem!

There were reports with send to bluetooth causing problems.  (see thread here)  but I don’t know whether it affected the tools or something else.  Did you search to make sure that any previous version of Endnote was completely removed?
