Knotty problem! EndNote duplicates biography, deletes all content after it

Hi Everyone:

I just upgraded from x4 to x7.1, and I have a problem.

I am working on a Word 2010 document with tracked changes that has a lot of text, then the bibliography, then a few more pages of text.

I created most of the document with x4, and added some references and a few paragraphs with x7.1.

EndNote x7.1 has created a second bibliography for the last pages, right after the main bibliography.

Everything after the second bibliography is highlighted gray when you mouse over it, as if the whole thing were an EndNote reference.

When I click Update Citations and Bibliography, the second bibliography and everything after it gets deleted.

When I delete the second one, and accept that change, everything after the bibliography gets deleted too.

I went to Edit > Output Styles to see if it was set to create a bibliography for each section, but it was not.

I don’t know what to do here, and I can’t figure out how to ask google either.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Have you tried to unformat the document to the tempory citations version.  – It is highly recommended when ever you change versions of Endnote - expecially by 3 versions, and possibly versions of word as well.  Delete any residual bibliography, and reformat the document, you can then move your bibliography back to where you want it.

Hi Leanne, thanks for your help –  it worked!

For the benefit of others with this problem, here’s what I did.

I clicked on the Endnote x7 tab, and went to Convert Citations and Bibliography > Convert to Unformatted Citations.

Everything after the bibliography was deleted.

I added all that back in, and the second bibliography was generated again.

I selected what I just added, and went to Convert Citations and Bibliography > Convert to Unformatted Citations.

I deleted the second bibliography.

I clicked Update Citations and Bibliography.

…And the second bibliography was gone, but the back pages were there! Fixed!
