I have been working on an endnote library for weeks, closing and opening it without any issues. It had clearly saved. However, yesterday, I was working on it and it crashed. Now, when I reopen it, it is back to the original version, and all my work is lost. I have looked everywhere on my computer trying to find another version of the file to no avail.
Anyone knows where endnote stores previous versions of files?
I see no reason why this would have happened unless you are working with the wrong version. Have you searched your drives for .DATA folders? Endnote does not automatically save “versions” or backups. You need to do that manually - best from the File>compress command.
I have looked all over my drive, and I am even currently running a grep search, but as of now I could not find another version of the library. I know which version I was using, and this version was seemingly “reset” to the original, unedited version after the crash.
If there is no way to recover all the edits that I have done to the organization of the library, then I am afraid everything is lost. This is really incredible, because EndNote is supposed to be saving the progress as it occurs, and I cannot wrap my head around how it managed to revert ALL my changes.
