Linking an EndNote library to a Word document

Hi! I am new to EndNote. I have a manuscript to edit with citations & bibliography created in EndNote by the author, and I need to reformat the references to a new style. The author sent me the .enl and the .data files for the reference library she used, but I don’t know how to connect the library to the document in Word. Any help would be much appreciated! (I am using EndNote X7 for Mac).

Just open the library in endnote (you can close any other libraries you might have) and open the document in word.  You shouldn’t need to “link” it to the library at least on a PC.
