Preprints as reference type

EndNote does not appear to have a reference type for preprints, why?

Preprints are available in PubMed, Embase, and Scopus, and are naturally included in EndNote when you have conducted a search and downloaded the results.

There is nothing wrong with the reference types Blog, Bill, Discussion Forum, or Ancient Text… but why not Preprint?

Instead, preprints are classified as “Generic.” The disadvantage is that it becomes difficult to see which entries come from Medrxiv or Biorxiv, for example.

I have added one. It isn’t that hard and then you can create a template. – but I usually was able to adapt journal and put things like (accepted) or (in press) in the year. Now with archives though, over the last vew years, it has become more accepted to cite them. Most un peer reviewed, unpublished preprint type publicatons were rarely cited in the past.
