Trouble connecting to EN Web server

I’m new to Endnote, but have looked and can’t solve my problem.

In EndNote (X5, windows, library computer, so limited control) when I try and transfer data from/to EndNote Web it asks for my Web login.  i enter my details and press enter, and and it says “authorizing” and then the email login box re-appears, and so it goes until you press cancel.  you then recieve the message “Endnote could not connect to the EndNote Web server.  Please verify that your e-mail address and password are correct and try again.”

I know the details are correct, and if i click on Help>Endnote web it opens my EN Web account, it just won’t transfer data between them.

Likewise in Word, when I click on the EN Web tab, I get the same login problem, and error message about not being able to connect to the server.

Any ideas where I am going wrong or what I can do to fix this?

Hello Dan,

If you haven’t already done so, I would recommend Activating your EndNote X5 upgrade to your EndNote Web account. To do this, click on the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click on the EndNote Web option and select Activate. Follow the steps to Activate your account. Once this is done, see if you are able to perform the Transfer without error. If you have any problems with Activation or this fails to resolve the issue, please contact Technical Support:
