Trouble with Using ENdote in WOrd 2007

Hello,

I am using Endnote X.0.2 in Word 2007 and I recently started to have trouble with a document I started to work on a little while ago. When I add, move or erase a reference, it takes an eternity for the document to process the information and actually update. In the meantime, I cannot even work on it because it is frozen.

Does anyone has an idea of what could be causing this problem?

A few questions:

  1. What is your computer’s operating system?

  2. Did you happen to move the library.enl and/or .DATA folder to a new location on the hard drive?

  3. Have you tried unformatting then reformatting the citations/bibliography?  Important: m ake a backup copy of the original document first before doing this so step… Does the problem still occur?

  4. Have you tried making a new document with the same library and does the “freezing” still happen?

If you’ve run through steps 3 and 4 without a resolution, there might be a problem with the library file and not the document. So it might indicate 1) making a copy of the library so see if the copy works; 2) restoring the library.
