UI Scaling Bug: “Select Matching Reference” Window Exceeds Screen Size in EndNote 2025

Dear EndNote Development Team,

I am writing to report a persistent user interface issue in EndNote 2025 related to the “Select Matching Reference” dialog window (triggered when resolving citations).

Issue Description
The dialog window consistently renders larger than the available screen space and cannot be fully contained within a single display. As a result:

  • Portions of the window extend beyond the visible screen boundaries.

  • Critical controls (e.g., action buttons such as “Insert” or navigation elements) may become partially or completely inaccessible.

  • The window does not properly auto-scale or adapt to screen resolution or display scaling settings.

Observed Behavior

  • The window appears to have a fixed or improperly calculated height/width.

  • It does not respond correctly to OS-level display scaling (e.g., macOS display scaling or external monitor configurations).

  • Resizing options are either unavailable or ineffective in constraining the window within screen bounds.

Expected Behavior

  • The dialog should dynamically scale to fit within the active screen resolution.

  • All interactive elements should remain accessible without requiring screen repositioning.

  • The window should support responsive resizing or scrollable containment where necessary.

Environment (example)

  • EndNote version: EndNote 2025

  • OS: macOS (latest version)

  • Device: Laptop display (issue may be more pronounced on smaller screens or scaled resolutions)

Impact
This significantly affects usability during citation management, particularly in workflows requiring frequent manual reference matching.

Suggested Fixes

  • Implement responsive UI scaling for modal/dialog windows.

  • Enforce maximum height/width constraints relative to screen resolution.

  • Introduce internal scroll regions instead of expanding the full window.

  • Ensure compatibility with OS-level display scaling settings.

I would be happy to provide additional diagnostics or screen recordings if needed.

Kind regards,
