What to do when this happens

I have had my laptop broken. I bought a new Dell one. I had to download EndNote program using my license, either Endnote 21 and the 2025 upgrade on the new laptop. We have the option to use the license on three different devices. Then I synced with my online library. All the references were downloaded by the same date, about 5500 references and not by the date of their added to the online library. Meanwhile, I succeeded to recover the SSD from the old broken laptop. Then I reached my old library on it and transferred it to the new laptop. This is the library I used to use until more than one month ago. Then I wanted to sync it with the online library. A message popped up telling me that I have already a synced library and if I do this the two libraries will merge.

Does this mean that merging will get me to have duplicates of all my references, the 5500. What is the best thing to do now? I mean to restore the things as I had it before. Meanwhile, sadly I used two of the three options of managing my license.

You want to save your currently synced library to a new name. To Start to sync with the library you rescued from the old lap top first make sure they are all backed up safely if the syncing doesn’t go as planned. Then see here for instructions

How do I reset my EndNote library to sync to a new library? - Pumerantz Library F.A.Q.'s .

You should NOT be using two of your three licenses for a defunct laptop. Call or reach out thru the website to customer service - and they should be able to fix that somehow.
