A COM exception has occurred.

Hello All,

I am running El Capitan 10.11.6,  Word 15.25 and Endnote X7.7. All the latest updates.  Whenever I attempt to insert a citation into my Thesis I receive: A COM exception has occurred. The bugs with EndNote are constant, I spend more time working out the bugs than working on my Thesis, desperate for a fix.
